Tank Calibration

4Tank calibration is the science of determining the exact true volume of a containment system corresponding to a certain measurement value. Reliable quantity measurement is the critical basis of good contractual relationships in worldwide trading of chemicals, petroleum products and liquefied gases. This can only be assured by accurate and regular calibration.

We use innovative laser-calibration measurement technology to help companies to reduce time and costs of tank management, as well as offering precise storage tank calibration to International Standards.

Metering

7From production platforms through pipeline systems to tankers and oil refineries, from terminals through inland distribution systems, inaccurate measurement leaves a company exposed to the risk of large financial losses. Delivery of fluids in precise adjustable flow rates is sometimes called metering.

Meters are used to calculate precisely the volume or weight of the liquid or gas that was transferred (flowed) through the pipeline systems. Meter proving (calibration) is increasingly required within the process of dynamic measurements to ensure that the highest practicable measurement accuracy is achieved. Depending on the facilities available, we aim to provide the equipment and expertise to prove meter accuracy and calibrate the meter and associated instrumentation to maintain measurement standards.

Non-Destructive Testing

12Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) is a wide group of analysis techniques used in the industry to evaluate the properties of a material, component or system without causing damage or destroying entity tested. Because NDT does not permanently alter the article being tested, it is a valuable technique that can save both money and time in product evaluation and for trouble-shooting purposes.

Lifting Equipment Inspection & Certification

15The importance of Cranes and other Lifting or Hoisting equipment cannot be underestimated in this age, especially its ability to lift or hoist its stated capacity and its stability. Failure to understand and address these issues could prove extremely costly for the owners and organizations who deploy contractors using these devices.

With these factors in mind, the need for a better understanding of crane operations and the implementation of appropriate maintenance schedules is evident in preventing accidents.

A recent study by the Construction Safety Association of Ontario, indicates that although mechanical failures represent only 11% of the causes of crane accidents, they usually result in the major accidents involving injuries, fatalities, substantial material costs, and usually spectacular media coverage. Studies and analysis of crane accidents involving mechanical failure show they are frequently due to a lack of preventive maintenance.

Cranes and associated rigging equipment must be inspected regularly to identify any existing or potentially unsafe conditions.

SBSI can perform conformity assessments, as well as statutory and voluntary inspections on cranes, hoisting and lifting equipment. Our services include:

Pressure Safety Valve Inspection, Repair, Maintenance & Certification

19A safety valve is a valve mechanism which automatically releases a substance from a boiler, pressure vessel, or other system, when the pressure or temperature exceeds preset limits. If a pressure surge in a compressor, pipeline, or pressure vessel exceeds the maximum operating pressure for the system, pressure safety valves (PSVs, or pressure relief valves, PRVs) will open and vent excess gas to the atmosphere.

An effective integrity assessment (inspection) program is indispensable to the correct operation of safety or relief valves. Without proper maintenance, pressure safety valves could fail to operate, leading to explosion which will cause extensive damage to property and human lives.

SBSI provides the following services:-

  • 20Pressure safety valve inspection and certification based on Local and/or International requirements
  • Inspection of pressure safety valve charge and discharge nozzles for possible deposit and corrosion products
  • POP test to determine the operating pressure of the pressure relief valves
  • Making external visual inspection on pressure safety valve after POP test
  • Repair and certification of pressure safety valve if POP test not satisfactory
  • Valve tightness test for checking of leaks after approval of setting pressure and POP tests.

 

Bathymetric Survey

21Bathymetry is the measurement of the depths of water bodies from the water surface. It involves the measurement of depth through sounding.
